Well, this post is a week late, but better late than never, right? And the post is a week late and the pictures were taken a few days prior to his actual 11 month mark. And it happened to be a much happier time in Sammy's life. Before the teething, before the ear infection, before all the pain--when he was himself. He's still not himself, and no, he still hasn't cut those teeth. It's gotta be tomorrow, right? Right??? I've been saying that every day for a week. So let's hope I'm right this time.
So, a few things I want to record about Sam at 11 months:He is cruising around more and more--walking along the furniture and moving from item to item. But I still don't think he'll walk any time real soon. He hasn't shown any desire to walk with us holding our hands or let go of anything and stand on his own. And he has no problems getting where he needs to go by crawling, so this is totally fine by me. :)
He has tan lines from his "rolls" on his arms and legs from all the swimming we've been doing. He doesn't look tan until you pull apart his rolls and see that they are white between them. :) You can kind of tell in the pictures.
Ever since he started crawling, he now falls asleep in the most horrible looking positions in his bed. I have to go in and reposition him shortly after he falls asleep or he wakes up crying hard (I'm guessing because his leg or arm has fallen asleep from being slept on in a strange fashion).
He loves (and I really do mean LOVES) Tyler's puppy and Curious George stuffed animals. I am envisioning some potential problems from this in our future.
He just started smacking his lips LOUD when he's eating something he really likes. He sucks his bottom lip in and just smacks away. It's very funny!
He is understanding us and responding to us a lot more. For instance, he will put his hands up over his head when we say "yay", he will give us "5", he will give me a love when I say "love Mommy" (or anyone or anything else we tell him to give a love to--Tyler, Daddy, George, puppy, etc), and he will sometimes wave bye bye and night night.
And, at 11 months, he has discovered a love for OREOS! And I'm the crazy lady who consented to this, knowing it would be a huge mess.
So, with all this talk about Oreos, I had to laugh at the way in which Sam eats his Oreo. Smashed up in his hand, trying to get every last morsel in his mouth--but most of it being saved for later on his hands, arms, bib, face, highchair, etc.
So, now this brings me the utmost important question I've asked yet. How do YOU eat your oreo? Does it look like this? Do you 'save some for later' on your face and arms? Do you have to go straight to the bath when you are finished?
Or are you like Tyler, where you pull it apart and lick the cream out of the middle? (I just noticed him doing this the other day and thought it was funny since he's never seen any of us do it.)
As for me, I will take mine double stuffed, all in one piece, with a glass of milk to dunk them in please. Mmmm, yum.
Garrett, he'll take regular or double stuffed, no milk (he thinks milk is evil), all in one piece.
One thing's for sure, though. No matter which way I eat my Oreo, I can't help but have an expression like this on my face because of their deliciousness:

And I usually have a smiliar expression to this when the Oreos are all gone:
Happy 11 Months, Sam!

Happy 11 Months, Sam! So, tell me, how do YOU eat your Oreo?

These pictures are so cute! They made me laugh. I can't believe Sam is almost a year old! And Tyler looks more grown up all the time! I like to eat my oreos in one bite, and I like them double stuffed, but I was like Garrett and didn't eat them with milk either until Charlie made me try a dunked oreo and I have kind of caught on. But my favorite is still without, I save the milk until I'm all done.
double stuffed is the way to go. Usually I dunk it in milk until it's soggy and then consume :) but sometimes I just twist the cookie apart and eat the side with the cream on it (this takes practice to get all the cream on one side :D)
ps cute little guy you have there :)
I will eat an oreo any way I can get one! What is not to like. Avalon loves them too....goey and messy and all over! Sam is so cute and I hope his teeth break soon....
how cute is he! i can't believe he's a year almost. Cutting teeth are the pits. KJ started at 3months and cut his bottom 2 teeth at almost 5 months. the top two were the pits, but after that...they came in with a breeze. My sister calls him a "special" child because he has ALL of his teeth!
Sam is my kind of guy! I adore oreos and I could eat nearly 10 {double stuff!} oreos in one sitting if Troy lets me. He is such a cutie pie! I love all of the facial expressions, and I must say that that last picture sums up how I feel when I've eaten the last oreo too!
Oreo eating is very serious business. Sometimes if I want to savor my oreos, I'll open them up and eat the filling and then the cookies. Other times when I'm a little impatient, I'll eat my oreos filling and all. I'm not a fan of milk, but eating oreos is one of the few times I make an exception. One rule: the milk must be ice cold. Sometimes we'll put a glass in the freezer until the outside of the glass is frosted and then enjoy. Yumm!
What a cute kid! I like to dunk mine or pull it apart and eat the stuffing out first. But it has to be double stuff and I'm right there with Sammy on the pouty face when they're all gone :(
Hee Haw funny. The pout at the end is priceless!! Tyler must really love Sam if he is willing to share puppy. I only eat oreos if I have milk to dunk them in. I do not like them plain.
Hey....I just eat them as fast as I can. I love Oreos. He is such a cutie and he is really growing up. It is funny to see the positions that they sleep in, it really cracks me up.
Hey Becky! I love your blog. I have been looking at it quite often since Lorraine gave me your blog address. It is fun to see the pictures you take and to keep up on what you have been doing since you live sooo far away. Your family is stinking cute!!
I definately do not dunk my oreos. It just all seems kind of messy to me. It's really taken me most of my life to even really like oreos. I know, I'm in the lowest of the 99.99 perscentile of people in the world, but I would much rather have a vanilla cream filled cookie than chocolate. Any way, cookies are good, but your little boys are better and I love seeing pictures of Sam with a great big smile on his face! I hope those teeth cut soon. The poor little guy (and you too!) Maybe if you gave him some oreos right now he would be happy for a while. Love, MomA
thank-you so much for your comment on my blog.. it meant a l o t!!
i can't even look at the package cause once i open them... i could eat all of them!!! not kidding.. i love um!!! :)
Oh my heavens! I swear, just when I think those boys can't possibly get any cuter...
I bet you made the cutest scrapbook page of this historical Oreo moment. I mean c'mon who doesn't love a good Oreo?!
Way cute! Congrats little Sam on another month behind you!
Love the oreo pictures!! Time goes so fast, he is almost 1.
So cute! I love watching them demolish their food. He is going to LOVE birthday cake. :) In answer to your question, no, I haven't been having problems with my blog. I've been debating for a long time whether to go private or not. I love all of the people that check our blog and comment, but I get nervous about the possibility of people reading all about our life, and us not having a clue about it. I think I'll just feel "safer" this way.
What a cute post! Love these pics! As for how I eat an oreo - won't eat them without dunking in milk...unless they're in an oreo shake which is pretty yummy too! (Preferrably a mint-oreo shake though)
Don't really like Oreo's. But Sam sure is cute eating his.
Happy 11 month birthday Sam! I like double stuff dunked in milk. It's the best way to go. However, the new banana split oreos are pretty good right out of the package.
OK, those pictures of Sam eating Oreos are precious....love the messy face. I laughed out loud at the tan lines and his baby rolls explanation...funny.
I don't like Oreos!! Is that un-American?!
Oh how time flies. I cant belive little Sammy is almost 1. I am glad he was born last year and not this year with the threat of that hurricane. It looks like he loves oreos. I bet he would like those little bite size ones and they wouldnt be quite so messy---for you to clean up. As for me---I prefer the vanilla ones and I like to share with somebody who likes the frosting stuff and I eat the side without the frosting and give the other side to somebody else. I know it is wierd but I like the cookie part the best. And---you know how we drink alot of milk in the family. I havent "dunked" a cookie for years. But it does sound sort of good---just a little. I might have to try it for one of my nice "healthy" dinners while Jim is gone!!!! Take care. Love those boys of yours---and of course their parents too!!! love grandma t
