After we hit up the Mississippi beaches last summer and had a great time, my thoughts of this summer included lots and lots of trips to the beach. In April, I started getting the itch to go and didn't make a trip before we left for Idaho, but of course I intended to go right away after we came home. And then, the oil rig exploded. And then, oil started spewing into the Gulf of Mexico and hasn't stopped...the outlook for Beach Season 2010 was not looking good. But as of mid-May and early June, the oil hadn't reached the beaches in Biloxi yet. So, lucky for us, we got a couple of trips in before it was too late. And to sweeten the deal, we got to meet up with my good friend Julia and her little Vivi who lived there this last year. It was perfect watching the kids play in the water while we chatted away. Beach life is pretty sweet, I must say! These pictures are from our trip on June 15 and shortly after this, there were tar balls spotted on the beach and it hasn't looked good since, so we haven't been back and who knows when we will! This oil spill is as ugly as you could ever imagine. It makes me sick to think of the long lasting effects of it all.

And I'll never understand how Tyler could enjoy sitting there literally getting slapped in the face by the waves. Ouch! But whatever floats your boat, eh?!
And not pictured from our beach trips were our first jellyfish encounter, which happened on our first trip in May. Tyler got stung and luckily Julia had some vinegar in her bag (she learned the lesson from it happening before!) to put on it and in no time, he was just fine and back out in the water. Who would have guessed vinegar would do the trick?! So we are sad our trips are probably done, but glad we got some in before it was too late. Nothing beats a day at the beach!
