Island Park, part 2

All right, here we go with installment 2. My parents' cabin is not far from the river so just as the sun was about to set, we headed down to check it out. Oh, and throw a few rocks too. I have boys, remember? And boys could be entertained all the live long day throwing rocks into water or sticks in the fire. Heaven, I tell ya.

First up was a skipping rocks lesson from the pro himself. I remember learning the proper form of skipping a rock from my dad and he taught Tyler the in's & out's and after a little practice, he wasn't doing too bad!

But Sam preferred to find boulders and chuck them in the water. It was much funner, apparently.

And we just sat there, with not a care in the world...watching the boys enjoy one of life's simplest pleasures. And as the sky turned a purplish pink, I just took in one more big breath of that awesome mountain air.

Island Park, part 1

The boys and I were able to go to Island Park with my parents for a couple days when we were in Idaho. It has been a really long time since we have been there in the summer time. It was a really fun trip, so laid back and relaxing...and so picture worthy. So, I've broken the pictures up in a few different posts so to not overdo it per post. Here's the first round!

Not long after we arrived, we took off for a 4 wheeler ride and made it back in time to get a fire going for dinner. Is there possibly anything more entertaining to little boys than sticks and fire? I think not. They were in heaven.

Call me crazy, but I think I had sort of forgotten how beautiful and abundant the wildflowers are in the summer up there. They are just beautiful, and almost peaceful...I quite enjoyed them (as you can see, I suppose!)!

I believe we had long since finished eating and there were many more things to be thrown into the fire!

Outdoors made for some happy boys! More coming!

More Idaho Events...

Besides playing and playing so hard, we fell asleep the instant we ever got in the car, we also fit in a few trips to Ross Park...

We found Grandpa's hat in the garage...

And we played all sorts of "games" in Grandma's driveway...see you can actually play outside in the summer in Idaho. What a novelty! To not kill over the minute you step out the door is awfully nice. Idaho summer weather can't be beat...I've said it before!

On your mark, get set...oh wait, Sam wants to join in.

And we also attended a Pioneer Day party with pioneer games. Tyler was so thrilled that Garrett would be his partner in a 3-legged race. It was so cute! I'll let you be the judge of how it turned out for them, though. :)

Quick! Say Cheese!

Before the party officially ended and everyone went their separate ways, we realized we hadn't taken any pictures of everyone together...the same mistake we made last year. So, we quickly gathered everyone up and took some quick pictures...and I mean quick. Some snapshots, in all their glory here. But I'm so glad we did! I don't think you could ever regret taking an extra second to snap a picture.

And about as fast as it started, we were done, but not before modeling some of the latest trends in headwear...whether it be a nice safari style hat or an XS child sized motorcycle helmet (yes, Todd is wearing the same helmet his 4 year old son was wearing in the picture above), we've got you covered!

And that's a wrap of this year's reunion...and of course, I am not including everything, just what I have pictures of. We sure had a fun time and look forward to doing it again. And now I'll work on blogging the rest of our Idaho trip (you didn't think this was all, did you??!!)
